The man behind the voice. Guy Noir. Lake Wobegon. My date on Saturday nights. Need I say more? |
There is something nostalgic about radio, especially variety-type shows like A Prairie Home Companion. Every time I hear Garrison Keillor's distinct voice I picture childhood evenings at home, my family together in the same room, unplugged, listening and laughing to one of the best story tellers of our time. Here are some quotes from today's talk:
"There is no such thing as finished writing. It's simply taken away from you."
"Guy Noir is the only person on public radio that can admire women in an honest way."
"The beauty of the Midwest is that most people in America have never been there. So it gives you a great deal of latitude."
